CMJ Network is interviewing for the position of Web Designer. It is a
full-time position located in our Manhattan offices (no freelancers).
The position works closely with our Art Director, Marketing Department,
and Editorial staff.
Duties include:
- Design and maintenance of CMJ.com and other CMJ Network websites and
microsites.
- Daily photo editing and graphics creation
- Banner ad management including design, deployment, and management of
ads on CMJ.com and other CMJ Network sites
- Create and send daily email blast, as well as other in-house and
partner emails
- General IT department assistance and online assets troubleshooting
Qualified candidates have strong problem solving skills, excellent
time-management abilities, a familiarity with WordPress, and must have
knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS and FTP. Advanced knowledge of the Adobe
Creative Suite and experience with Dreamweaver and Flash are required.
PHP, JavaScript, and Ruby On Rails experience preferred. Projects will
require strong skills in conceptualizing, typography, design and layout.
An understanding of basic marketing concepts that influence effective
design, along with a proven ability to construct an effective and
captivating user interface, is essential. Having an interest in or
knowledge of the music covered by CMJ.com will be extremely helpful.

This Marketing Department internship is for those interested in the inner workings of marketing and event planning for music related events, namely the CMJ Music Marathon, and promotions. We work with a number of clients to facilitate promotions in New York area as well as college campuses across the country. Interns play a substantial role in assisting from planning, organizing, facilitating and wrapping campaigns.
